2010 Shelby GT500 spy shots

We are all patiently waiting for the official unveiling of the 2010 Shelby GT500 Mustang at this years Detroit auto show, but Ford is unabashedly showing off a mule of the car around the streets of Detroit.

Jalopnik's Ben Wojdyla had a convertible version of the car pull up right next to him at a stoplight in Royal Oak, which gave him the perfect opportunity to get some shots.

From what we can see in the pictures, all the general 2010 Mustang features carry over, plus the requisite special alloys, giant grille openings, badging, and a heat extracting hood. The black color with grabber blue stripes is a nice touch.

Ben says the GT500's gutsy exhaust note blended with a hint blower whine sounds as good as it did before. In the meantime, we'll have to live with these shots until Ford drives the Shelby on stage in just over a month from now.
