Video: Dodge Viper V10 powered 300C

Ah, what could have been. Or what could be. The 300C with a Hemi V8 or the SRT version are both formidable cars in their own right. But with a bunch of Viper V10's running around and no new Vipers to put them in, could they be put to better use? Absolutely.

This short video shows a glimpse of what the definition of a sleeper looks like. This Viper powered 300C is a project car that features a manual transmission, but now much else is known about the car. The sound, however, is unmistakable and the possibilities are tantalizing.

2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392

Photobucket

Chrysler, a company on the rebound for the second time in it's life, is planning on taking SEMA by storm with 35 vehicles going on display at the car show extravaganza. One of the gems in this huge lot is the 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392.

Power in the SRT8 392 has been kicked up a notch from the previously "normal" SRT8 thanks to a 6.4 liter V8 producing 470 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. The kicker is that the 6.4 not only produces more power than the previous 6.1 liter, but it also delivers it with 15-20 percent better fuel economy thanks to variable valve timing and cylinder deactivation.

Other upgrades over the outgoing model include a retuned suspension with firmer shocks and quicker steering, a unique chin spoiler, and much more. Chrysler says it will only build 1,492 inaugural edition copies of the SRT8 392, with the first ones going on sale right after Thankgiving.

Launching Off the Line: Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 Delivers New Levels of Performance With Loads More Torque, Horsepower and Maximum Handling

October 25, 2010 , Auburn Hills, Mich. –

Dodge's ultimate modern American muscle coupe, the Dodge Challenger SRT8 392, receives a big boost in horsepower and torque with the introduction of the legendary 392-cubic inch HEMI V8 powertrain for the street.

And the product story goes beyond the power rumbling under the hood.

Dodge performance loyalists asked for more power off the line, and the 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 answers the call with 470 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft. of torque. That's 90 lb.-ft. more torque at 2,900 rpm compared with the previous 6.1-liter V-8 engine.

Building on its original mantra of a rear-drive coupe that delivers balance between form and function, the Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 also brings world-class ride and handling along with high-performance braking and the latest technology that delivers improved fuel efficiency.

New, highly damped shocks offer a firm ride that maintains the feel for everyday commuting while being fully capable for the more challenging situations. SRT engineers recalibrated the suspension geometry to improve Challenger's balance, corning ability and steering responsiveness. Quicker steering ratios and new negative camber settings all around dramatically improve Challengers appetite for cornering.

The performance SRT-tuned, fully hydraulic steering system also has been improved with a new, heavy-duty pump and revised gearing to give drivers more direct feel and on-center response.

The result: the 2011 Challenger SRT8 392 is now more nimble and playfully "tossable" while still capable of an incredible .93g of lateral acceleration on the skid pad – the most of any production Challenger.
To kick off 2011-model year production, Dodge will build 1,492 Inaugural Edition models of the Challenger SRT8 392, all with exclusive content.

On the outside, Dodge is offering unique customization for those first 1,492 owners. Two colors and new full-body stripe combinations include Deep Water Blue with standard Stone White stripes or Bright White Clear Coat with standard Viper Blue stripes. All Inaugural Edition models will ride on standard 20-inch SRT-exclusive wheels that feature a polished face and satin black painted pockets.

Unique "392 HEMI" badges flank both fenders touting the historically significant V-8 engine. Mopar quad exhaust tips deliver the performance exhaust note while adding a serious muscle car styling cue. A larger front splitter and integrated front fender spats give this Challenger SRT8 392 better overall high-speed aerodynamics and balance.

A newly modified front fascia chin spoiler improves aerodynamics and is accent painted for a more aggressive look. The rear decklid spoiler also is completed in matching body color.

The race-inspired interior of the Challenger SRT8 392 Inaugural Edition features standard Smooth Pearl White leather-trimmed seats and dual blue stripes accented by unique blue stitching. Each of the front seats features an embroidered "392" just below the headrest. An exclusive, serialized "Inaugural Edition 392 HEMI" dash plaque, showing the sequential build number from 1 to 1,492, rounds out the exclusive interior content.

Drop Top Customs goes old school with Camaro T-Top conversion

Photobucket

Those who had or have t-top cars are typically a dedicated bunch. They are insanely loyal to their t roof cars, and many folks probably still wish that they could buy their favorite muscle cars with one. Drop Top Customs is seeking to please those diehards by introducing a t-top version of the new Chevrolet Camaro.

DTC is a company best known for producing convertible versions of cars that aren't offered in roofless version. The t-top Camaro will make its debut at SEMA in November, and the company swears it doesn't cause any chassis flex. The conversion will cost a mere $6,500, which is not too bad considering the tech that goes into chopping the roof.

Romeo Ferraris' carbon fiber, 667 hp Corvette Z06

Photobucket

The Corvette Z06 you see here is not your average 'vette. This much is obvious from first sight, as the unpainted carbon fiber body panels can attest. No, this Z06 has been built by an Italian tuning firm known as Romeo Ferraris, one that is better known for foreign iron.

RF not only added the carbon fiber panels to ensure a wicked look and less weight, they also performed some additional modifications so it can keep up with big brother ZR1. A supercharger adorns the top of the 7.0 liter LS7, resulting in 667hp and 607 lb-ft of torque. 62mph comes in 3.3 seconds and top speed is 211 mph.

Additional modifications include a centrifugal compressor, high flow injectors, aluminum intercooler, and custom exhaust. Brakes are massive 380mm/6-pot on the front and 345/4-pot on the back.

Video: Hennessey V700 Coupe hits the dragstrip

Not only is the 2011 Cadillac CTS-V coupe one of the better looking cars available today, it is also pretty quick. Packing 556 horsepower from the factory, the two door is a force to be reckoned with right off the showroom floor. But that just isn't enough for some folks.

Give yourself an edge over those "normal" CTS-V owners with the Hennessey V700. The massaged LSA motor pumps out an impressive 700hp and 740 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels. The quarter mile is obliterated in around 11 seconds, and we can bet it's one of the more comfortable 1/4 mile runs you'll ever make.

Hennessey HPE700 Chevy Camaro Convertible revealed

Photobucket

The 2011 Chevrolet Camaro convertible not only gives Camaro fans a top down toy, it also provides a new canvas for the aftermarket. While convertibles are not well known for their structural rigidity, they are known for their fun factor. And the fun factor promises to be off the scale when it comes to Hennessey's latest, the HPE700 Camaro convertible.

For 2011, the HPE will be available in both coupe and convertible, with a run of only 24 cars. In case you forgot, the HPE loses its LS3 V8 and gains an LS9 from a ZR1 Corvette. With a little tuning, the supercharged V8 produces 755 horsepower and 763 pound feet of torque. All that power is good for a 0-60 run of 3.3 seconds, and a quarter mile time of 10.9seconds at 130 miles per hour (for the hardtop).

Pricing is $132,500, and you can find all the specs and details in the Press Release below.

LS9-Powered Camaro Goes Topless

New 2011 Hennessey HPE700 Camaro Gets Convertible Option and 755 Horsepower

SEALY, TEXAS – With the limited production run of Hennessey's 2010 HPE700 Camaro long since sold-out, the company has announced they will build another 24 units for the 2011 model year. This latest run of HPE700's will include the addition of the new convertible model (from Chevrolet) and an increase in power from its supercharged 6.2L LS9 V8 – the same engine found in the Corvette ZR1.

The 2011 HPE700 gets its additional power from revised boost levels and a more robust fuel system, delivering 755 bhp and 763 lb-ft of torque. This 30 horsepower increase over 2010 will also help move the convertible's extra weight, while the large 15 inch brakes from last year remain to bring it back to a stop quickly.

As the Camaro convertible arrives in showrooms in the spring of 2011, the 6-speed manual SS model will become available alongside its hardtop brethren to become the basis for the HPE700 LS9 Camaro transformation.

HPE founder and president, John Hennessey said, "We have already sold a several of our 2011 HPE700's in hardtop form, increasing the potential for the convertible LS9 Camaro to become an even rarer option than before". "I expect that we will sell all 24 units just as we did in 2010. However this time we will probably sell-out even sooner as the convertible option will certainly be attractive – especially with 755 horsepower".

In addition to the upgraded LS9 engine, the HPE700 also includes an adjustable coilover suspension, larger sway bars, HPE lightweight wheels, larger 15-inch brakes with 6-piston front calipers, stainless steel long tube headers, painted hockey stripe, Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel, CarbonAero™ carbon fiber body kit and more to complete the car's distinct look and performance characteristics.

As with the 2010 model year, the 2011 HPE700 LS9 Camaro will be limited to just 24 units, with no set allocation between coupe and convertible. Pricing for the complete HPE700 upgrade, including the base vehicle, is $132,500 and can be ordered directly through HPE or one of Hennessey's authorized Chevrolet dealers.

2011 Dodge Charger - official pictures and details released!

Photobucket

The modern version of Dodge's Charger burst onto the scene amidst some controversy and uncertainty. After all, who wanted a four door car to bear the name of one of the most beloved cars of the muscle era? But as they say, time heals all wounds, and so does a heaping dose of Hemi power. The Charger has become a good seller for Dodge, and its popularity has grown over the last few years. But the current model is a little long in the tooth, and it is certainly time for some updates.

For 2011, those updates are coming. The '11 model is said to be inspired more by the 1968-70 generation, which is quite evident in the design of its full width rear taillights. It is quite an improvement in looks over the outgoing model, and gives the car a rather modern appearance from the back. On the front side, things aren't changing so dramatically. The grill is a little more aggressive, and adds to the overall mean look the car portrays.

Under the hood you will find both the 3.6 liter V6 and 5.7 liter Hemi V8. The R/T model will have the option of all wheel drive, which will include front axle disconnect which can help fuel economy.

The new 2011 Charger will go on sale at the end of the year.

2011 Roush 5XR Mustang

Photobucket

The Ford Mustang is plenty capable in its own right, what with a 412hp 5.0 and all. But the growing level of power in the popular pony car has only served to grow its aftermarket following over the years, as countless aftermarket parts and turnkey cars turn up year after year.

Roush is a big player in the game, producing quality parts and whole cars that are ready to roll. For 2011 they are introducing the 5XR, the latest and greatest in a long standing tradition of fast Fords. The 5XR makes its power thanks (mostly) to a R2300 ROUSHcharger, pumping out 525hp and 465lb-ft of torque.

The 5XR isn't just about a supercharger, of course. A host of body modifications come with the package, along with the appropriate badges. Other performance mods include suspension upgrades, 20 inch chrome wheels, and Cooper RS3 tires that help put the power to the road.

The 5XR is a limited run of which only 150 examples will be produced. Prospective owners will have to provide the Mustang for the conversion, which Roush certified Ford dealers can install for $15,390.

Press Release

LIVONIA, Mich. – Jack Roush is a man who knows how to coax horsepower from an engine. ROUSH® has become an automotive powerhouse based on this simple premise, and he couldn't wait to get his hands, and his engineering team, on the new Ford 5.0L engine. The end result, and the car fans of the ROUSH Mustang have been waiting for, is the 2011 ROUSH 5XR™ Mustang with "more power" under the hood thanks to the factory-installed ROUSHcharger®.

Make no mistake, the 2011 ROUSH 5XR is a runner. With the R2300 ROUSHcharger installed the 2011 ROUSH 5XR Mustang will sport an "extreme" 525 horsepower under the hood, along with an "exciting" 465 lb.-ft. of torque. To keep the "exclusivity" high, there will be a maximum of just 150 units of the 2011 ROUSH 5XR Mustang built, each with a 3-year/36,000 mile warranty on the powertrain and ROUSH components. The 2011 ROUSH 5XR Mustang is available in a coupe or convertible, but only with a six-speed manual transmission.

"I'm always excited to get an opportunity to work on a new engine, and the Ford 5.0-liter is a great platform. It has 412 horsepower to begin with, but our group was able to coax out another 113 horsepower with the ROUSHcharger. The 2011 ROUSH 5XR runs fast, sounds great, and is another amazing addition to the ROUSH Mustang heritage," said Jack Roush, motorsports legend and chairman of ROUSH Enterprises.

To handle the road, a ROUSH suspension kit has been installed to provide superior handling and ride control. This includes front struts, rear shocks and rear springs, front and rear stabilizer bars. The car rides on ROUSH 20-inch chrome rims with high-performance Cooper RS3 tires.

The installed ROUSH exhaust with square tips gives the 2011 ROUSH 5XR Mustang a deep, throaty sound worthy of a supercharged American V-8 muscle car. The aggressive ROUSH body kit changes the appearance of the car so people know that this is not just any Ford Mustang prowling the roads. The appearance upgrades include a ROUSH front fascia with driving lamps, front chin splitter, side rocker splitters, rear valance and three-piece decklid spoiler. A ROUSH upper billet grille streamlines the front of the vehicle and provides some additional cooling to the engine, and a unique 2011 ROUSH 5XR Mustang graphics package trims out the appearance of this limited edition vehicle. Badging unique to this vehicle can be found throughout the 2011 ROUSH 5XR Mustang.

One thing that makes this car different from previous ROUSH Mustangs is that the 2011 ROUSH 5XR Mustang will be sold only as a post-title vehicle. This means that the authorized ROUSH-Ford dealership must pre-sell the car to a customer or title the vehicle before the order can be placed in the ROUSH system. The 2011 ROUSH 5XR Mustang is not available for sale in California. Please contact your local ROUSH-authorized Ford dealer for more information, or visit www.ROUSHperformance.com to locate your nearest dealer.

A letter of authenticity, personally signed by Jack Roush, will be sent to each buyer of the 2011 ROUSH 5XR Mustang. The 2011 ROUSH 5XR package carries a suggested retail price of $15,390 in addition to the cost of the base Mustang chassis.

In addition to the rich collection of standard features, a variety of upgrade options are available for the 2011 ROUSH 5XR Mustang, including color-matched sport leather seats, big four-piston brakes with 14-inch slotted rotors, vent pod gauge, and a lower three-piece billet grille. 2011 Mopar Challenger Drag Pak to have Viper V10

Photobucket

The Dodge Challenger Drag Pak, which made its debut back in 2009, is the very definition of a factory prepped drag-ready car. All that have been produced so far have been snatched up quickly, proving that there is indeed a market for a turnkey racer.

The big news for 2011 is that the Drag Pak is is moving on from the 6.1 liter Hemi it has been using for power, and replacing it with an 8.4 liter, Viper V10 backed up with a two speed automatic transmission. Power output is identical to the now defunct Viper at 600hp and 560 lb-ft of torque.

Other race only goodies include built in roll control, body in white construction, fuel cell, polycarbonate door windows, lightweight front brakes, and race style wheels and tires.

Three packages are available. The Competition Package costs $7,950 and features an eight point roll cage, six point safety harness, and mesh window net so you can enter and exit Dukes of Hazard style. The Mopar Body Logo Wrap will cost $950, and if you don't like white for an additional $6,800 you can have one of an assortment of colors.

If you want one, you better hurry. Only 70 examples will be produced, with a starting price of $85,512.
