Ford releases two new crate motors, X302 and 427 FE

Racers, Mustang builders, street rodders, and other builders rejoice! Well, maybe not rejoice, but be pleased that there are two new options in the crate motor selection from Ford.

The X302 is based on the good ol' 5.0, and it features a cast iron block, forged pistons, aluminum heads, and 340 horsepower. At $3,495 it's a bargain for those seeking some reliable power or a replacement engine for a Fox platform car.

The next new motor is the 427FE. Based on the Boss 351 block, it features four bolt main bearings, and forged connecting rods and crank. The 427FE has aluminum heads and 10.5:1 compression, helping it dish out 535 horsepower and 545 lb-ft of torque. Price is $8,800.

Looks like they will perform just as well. Either of them would be a nice swap for an old Mustang.
