Video: 2010 Ford Mustang breaks longest drift record

Drifting is a Japanese sport. Or at least it was. It's only natural that big, V8 powered, rear wheel drive American cars have burst on the scene. They are just great drifting machines.

As if the 2010 Ford Mustang doesn't have enough hype preceding it as it is, one has just claimed the world's longest drift record to boot. Vaughn Gittin Jr. piloted a 2010 GT to the record at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway with a two minute drift taking 6,285 feet, or 1.19 miles to complete.

Great video! I was never into drifting (or any kind of auto racing, for that matter) but I do like the beauty of the sports cars and the crazy speeds they reach.
