2011 Ford Mustang promos hit the web

With two all new engines pumping out more horsepower than it's rival Camaro, the 2011Mustang has lots to brag about. And brag it does in this two Ford promo videos touting both the 3.7 liter V6 and the 5.0 liter V8.

Both promos point out all the lurid details of both cars, and do a nice job of making us want one even more.

2011 Ford Mustang wins first comparison test with Camaro, Challenger

Photobucket

The pony car wars have been fully rejuvenated, despite many obstacles such as high gas prices and a declining economy. The Mustang has been going strong for many years, while the Camaro and Challenger are reborn. Both have surpassed the Mustang in power and straight numbers.

When we found out that Ford was coming back strong for 2011 with the rejuvenated 5.0L moniker backed up by a serious boost in power, up to 412 from a paltry 315. Naturally, we expected there to be many comparison tests to follow.

The first comes to us thanks to Motor Trend. And as expected, the new Mustang claimed victory against a Camaro SS and Challenger SRT-8. Not surprisingly, thanks to it's better power to weight ratio. But the Mustang also claimed victory in quality and fit and finish. Head on over to MT to see the full comparo.

2011 Ford Mustang to start at $22,995, pace Daytona 500?

With the 2011 Mustang, Ford has pushed power in both the V6 and V8 models up almost 100 horsepower respectively. Both have also received a host of significant upgrades that give them more ammunition in the reborn pony car wars of today.

With those type of improvements, one can only expect to see some type of price increase. Early word from the Mustang Source is that the V6 Mustang will base out at $22,995, which is a $750 increase over the '10 model but $500 cheaper than a V6 Camaro.

The GT will reportedly base at $30,495, (breaking the $30,000 barrier for the first time) which is $1,250 higher than '10 but $1,300 cheaper than an SS Camaro.

Also in Mustang news, the folks over at Mustang Heaven are telling us that the 2011 Mustang GT will pace the Daytona 500, which will be the first time a Ford has done so since the 1970 Torino GT.

Of course the pace car Mustang will get a Daytona red paint scheme with blue and white LeMans stripes. Lots of other random goodies will ensue as well. Ford only plans on building one, which will be offered up for auction at Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale, Arizona on Saturday, January 23rd.

2011 Mustang to get upgraded Track Pack to handle Coyote 5.0 power?

Car & Driver was recently down at GingerMan Raceway in South Haven, Michigan, where it ran into some Ford engineers testing some preproduction 2011 Mustangs. The unusual thing about the cars was that they featured not only adjustable shocks, but some serious supercar rubber. The same tires that are used on the Lamborghini LP560-4, for example.

The car was lapping 1.88 mile track just as fast as the current BMW M3 they brought along. How is it possible that a 315hp car could keep up with a 414hp one? Both the Mustang and the M3 weigh in almost identical, so the most logical explanation is that the Mustang was packing a little something extra underhood.

The logical explanation here is that the Mustang was packing the Coyote 5.0, a 400hp big time upgrade over the stock 4.6L. It's also possible that the white car with one tailpipe is sporting the EcoBoost V6, which is rated higher than the standard GT. Either way, check out the article and let the speculation begin!
